Must be a *big* advantages owning (and controlling the development of) the codebase (IBM, not necessarily Bob ... ;-) . For the last few years I have kept an eye on dump processing in Linux. What an eye-opener, coming from MVS/IPCS. Must be nice for Bob and his team to know where the product is going in the next few years, and be able plan whether to have code in place when it gets there. Sun with Solaris are in a similar position. Redhat are trying to do their bit to bring some semblance of order to the Linux kernel dumps - enough in fact to convince me I need to build a system to try out their "crash" system. But it ain't IPCS by a long shot. Keep up the good work Bob. Shane ...
