Hi Folks,
If any of you has any old CBT Tapes, at least older than Version
440 (Dec 11, 2001) and especially versions that are in the 200s and
300s, I would appreciate it if you contact me. As proprietor of the CBT
Tape collection, I sometimes have to correct errors and pull out old
versions of the contributions. And sometimes I have to reference
deleted contributions from the old versions. So therefore, I need to
have as many old versions of the CBT collection as possible. It pays
for me to keep an archive, for whenever anybody needs anything.
Also, I'd like to spread the wealth around, eventually. The stuff
is free, and it helps people, so I want to make the older tapes more
easily available to whomever might need them. With the new technologies
available, you can put many CBT Tapes on one DVD, especially when zipped
down. So if you send me an old tape that I don't currently have, you're
also contributing to a community effort, and you may benefit from it
yourself, later.
If you have one or more old CBT Tapes, or (especially) an
AWS-format (i.e. P/390 format) version of it, or even a FLEX (Faketape)
version of it, I would be very interested in hearing from you. I can
convert all these formats. (See CBT Tape File 533 - www.cbttape.org -
Updates directory for some available tools.)
I have prepared a suitable reward. Since it is possible to put
tapes (in AWS format for example) on CDs and DVDs, I have prepared an
ongoing DVD with A LOT OF STUFF, many versions of old and new CBT Tapes,
and a lot more. This will be sent out to people who contribute old
versions of the CBT Tape to me.
If you need a tape returned, this can be arranged. Or you can make
a duplicate. See CBT Tape File 229 (COPYMODS program) which does that
very easily.
Many thanks in advance.
All the best......
Sincerely, Sam Golob
