--------------------<snip>--------------------
We are getting wayyyyyy tooooo manyyy OT threads.
And, why should Friday be special.
---------------------<unsnip>-------------------
When I first entered the IBM-MAIN forum, Friday 'seemed' to be a day
when OT threads were at least mildly acceptable. I freely admit that I
contributed to the noise level. Now it seems that the OT threads are
proliferating to the other working days, and again I admit some
responsibility there. Mea culpa. But I'm getting (slowly) better at
limiting my posts to subjects that are actually relevant. A few other
posters are failing to make this effort, and thus we see a number of OT
threads.
My suggestion: don't respond to these OT threads and let them die by
attrition. Sooner or later, the main offenders will learn to "keep the
noise down". If not, I'm sure that BigD, or the new list owner, will
take steps to provide the needed "suppression".
In the mean time, hang in there; there's still a MOUNTAIN of information
and experience right here; we just have to do a bit of serious "sifting"
to find the grains of wheat amidst all the chaffe.
Newcomers to the list, please take note..............
