Then I'd try something else to copy to tape and see if you get the same results. I had one back on 3490's that drove us crazy for a couple of weeks. The FDR offsite tapes would abend during Highspeed rewind. Anyway we got the Area specialist in and he flagged it in about 15 minutes. Turns out the little rubber rollers had gotten too hard and were causing tensioning problems.
