I have some old PL/1 code that we used to use to benchmark, and I just
re-compiled and tested it under LE, and there are some modules that appear
to run longer (but not use a lot more CPU), and some the run shorter, but
I'm talking a +/- 10%, not a factor of 7 or 8. Maybe they didn't re-compile
or they made other changes at the same time that were not great picks. My
code was written to be a benchmark, not a "real" application, so we were
interested in testing out a lot of the functions, not in processing anyone's
payroll or anything;)

I did notice that they used more memory than the older versions, but LE is
bigger so I assume it's probably reasonable.

Your people aren't trying to limit the application in some way are they?
