Joel, Looks like you are experimenting with a loopback doing TrueCopy to and from the same 9980. I can't help you with the sense bytes, but the first thing you should check is that the S-VOL (SECONDARY) is not online to another LPAR.
Secondly you will have a problem with loopback if Shadowimage is installed in the CU. Shadowimage support for PPRC commands looks for the identical ser# on the commands, and will interpret the command as a Shadowimage command if they are the same. Thirdly, you may want to try creating the same pair with BCM or Storage Navigator. The command feedback is often easier to understand then with ICKDSF.
