Yes, and there are so many pitfalls.
Our management wanted us to set it up on a processor with a test LPAR and a
prod LPAR.
In a backup situation, the test LPAR would come down and the memory would be
re-configured onto the prod LPAR.
We even tried automating it, because OPS tended to make finger-checks.
But, there were so many problems in synchronising it, we gave up.
We eventually purchased the 1GB were were trying to save.

>I think the best place to start is (was?) the PR/SM Planning Guide.

It still is. It even has the RSU values required based on memory installed.
