Okay - I had to think about this for a bit.
The other thought I had was that MAIL/NOMAIL is actually the LISTBC command
under TSO.
So when a user is logging onto TSO and selects NOMAIL on the logon screen.
As they logon the NOMAIL will prevent them from receiving and SEND commands
to their TSO ID.
After they are logged on, to get messages, they can issue the LISTB command
to get them anytime they want. But they will have to physically continue to
enter LISTB.
I tend to use NOMAIL when I am about to submit a massive number of jobs.
The SEND message from those jobs will go the Broadcast data set. Since my
shop is set up for individual TSO Broadcast data sets, I will then go copy
them messages to a new file.
However, if you issue the TSO command TSO HELP LISTB
You can see the options are
MAIL
NOMAIL
NOTICES
NONOTICES
