Actually the rule below depends on the DATACLAS Construct for additional volumes. The default is Primary, which means a new Primary on every volume, but it can be set to secondary so that VSAM datasets behave the same way as Non-VSAM, allocating the secondary extent value on every subsequent volume the dataset extends to.
