I'm setting up HSM to backup to DASD instead of tape. I can't figure out how best to set up the disks though; whether to have a (increasingly?) large number of daily backup volumes like I did with the tape volumes, or a small amount of daily backup volumes and a (increasingly?) large number of spill volumes?
If I have a small number of daily backup volumes, how many do I put in it? Enough to contain just a day's worth of backups? Enough to have one volume per running backup task? Are there any performance considerations to take into account? Anything else to consider?
