Aside from the Microsoft Office 2007 full-license freebie, I scheduled and spent more than three hours with multiple CA product technicians and R&D staff, who were genuinely interested in listening to client interests and needs. Very satisfying indeed. While there were technical sessions on CA products and other interfacing third-party software solutions, as well, the opportunities to network and let someone else buy you are drink were numerous. Fortunately, CA has relaxed some of that "we can't talk about futures" (at least not in the 'light'), which proved quite useful to see what's either in or near beta, what with technology moving so fast. And I noticed fewer marketing types and more experienced support and R&D technical staff from CA in attendance. If considering CA World attendance in April 2010 in Los Angelss, take the opportunity to visit the CA World website, build what would have been a virtual agenda, had you attended, review the available handouts, gain insight and share the content with others on your fave topics, and then use that bargaining-chip to attend the next conference. And also consider investing time to develop a 45-minute presentation/discussion, related to a CA product you or your enterprise might use, and CA will waive your conference fee altogether.
