And the LCDs aren't bright enough to read my hand written notes. In all seriousness, the light I was referring to is in my cubicle desk at home (I use to run a company out of my house and have a full office setup). It is only a single 18 Watt tube. And I found that when I positioned the LCD monitor to where it was about 1 inch behind the light (relative to where I was sitting), that I could see that strange shadow line slowly moving down the screen. The cubes at work are lit about the right level as far as I'm concerned. Well, now I return you to real work...
