I mis-read the original post. I thought the z9 was being replaced, not the z890. Having re-read the OP, I would say the toleration maint is mandatory for the z/890 LPARs, and highly desireable for the z9 LPARs.
Apologies to the OP. <snip>Subject: Re: z10 toleration maintenance Staller, Allan wrote: > <snip> > Subject: Re: z10 toleration maintenance > > We have six zos 1.7 systems three on a z890 and three on a z9 we have > applied the toleration for the z10 on the z890 systens since we will be > replacing the z890 with the z10 all six > Systems are in a sysplex do we have to apply the z10 maintenance onto > the z9 zos 1.7 systems > </snip> > > It is unlikely to be *NECESSARY* to apply the z10 maint to the z/OS 1.7 > systems. IMO, it is highly desirable to do so! BTDT. I did the test: z/OS 1.7 did not IPL on z10 - some message about WLM and wait state. PTFs fixed this. YMMV. </snip> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
