I recall one situation where this particular reason applied: the cable we used 
to connect the OSA to the LAN was simply too long. Just for your info.

I'm not familiar with the command you mentioned but I guessed E080 may be a 
code to be found in the Open Systems Adapter-Express Customer's Guide and 
Reference manual, SA22-7935-05, and indeed it was to be found there as one 
of the codes in the OSA Reject Codes section:

A LAN connection could not be made, possibly for one of the following reasons:

- The cable may not be present

device or restart TCP/IP.

Now the only mystery is why "The message description for the other 
application" did not "direct you to this section."
