Well, I've done it only a couple times so far. 2.10 to 1.4 to 1.7 and now going
to 1.9

There wasn't much control over changes to /etc on our part as we slowly moved
into the /zOS Unix SS world. I was trying diff most recently comparing the 1.4
/etc we had with the new 1.7 /etc from IBM. Our changes were hard to find in
the midst of the changes by IBM. It wasn't a serious issue as we didn't and
don't greatly exploit "USS" yet.

I'm trying hard to lay ground work in this 1.7 to 1.9 so that 1.9 to 1.?? Will
be smoother.
