Allocate a PDSE and write a series of members. Some may come up empty which you can delete by counting records and setting a condition code. Then FTP the surviving members.
A couple of years ago I won a beer bet by allocating a PDSE and reading an input file and writing out 10,000 output members in one pass. I would have tried to write more but I was tired of replicating JCL and OUTFIL statements. One of these days I'll have DFSORT generate them for me and try to write a bunch more. I suppose the ultimate DD limit will stop this foolishness. I can always find a fish around here willing to make a bet. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Howard Brazee Sent: Friday, March 13, 2009 12:59 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Splitting files into a variable number of cataloged files On 12 Mar 2009 11:20:15 -0700, [email protected] (Itschak Mugzach) wrote: >Idcams skip & Count... But my problem is I don't know how to create a variable number of cataloged output files. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html No virus found in this incoming message.
