In addition to the previously mentioned problems, I would like to point out
the security implications. If you could get this to work, then any program
which knew about it could use your DCB to read (or write) your dataset.
Depending on what you are doing, this could cause an auditor to have
apoplexy! IOW, it could be a real security pain.

Now, the problem with the PC-ss method mentioned would be the complexity of
writing such a thing. To those in the know, it is not a big deal. To the
rest of us mere mortals ... <grin> And you still need some way to validate
the caller of the PC.

Perhaps if you told us what you were trying to accomplish? Or is this just
more like a curiosity question? I know that CA-1 does something like this so
that the TMC can be easily read/updated without needing an STC "server". I
guess RACF also does something similar for its database I/O as well.
