Perhaps the better question is - At what rate is John losing available space in his MCDS? Has it been 93% full for the past 6 months or was it 75% full last week and he can expect a phone call from OPs in the near future to the effect that HSM is inoperative? IBM answer 3# - It depends.
If it needs to be re-org'd then do as Walter suggests and modify the supplied jcl in Samplib. I thought good practice was not to do that because you 'll end up splitting ci/ca for inserts for few weeks, thus having performance impact. It used to be a recomendation not to do it. Has it changed?
