Forget my earlier lame suggestion. As a couple of other people
have already pointed out, calling BPXWDYN is the way to go.
It will do exactly what you need. You should be able to call it
directly from your COBOL program. Or, you could call it from your Rexx
program, which you might want to have available for other programs to
call, from a variety of environments - TSO, MVS batch, or USS.
