A while back I posted something on punched cards here and got a private email "what does punched cards have to do the the mainframe?" so I'm half expecting a "what does Poughkeepsie NY have to do with the mainframe?".
About once a year I search Amazon for "Mainframe" and like most times nothing interesting came up. But there was this recently published book on Poughkeepsie: Main Street to Mainframes: Landscape and Social Change in Poughkeepsie http://www.amazon.com/Main-Street-Mainframes-Landscape-Poughkeepsie/dp/1438426135/ The one chapter looks interesting: "IBM triumphs with the 360 Mainframe Computer" but that's not enough for me to buy the book. Maybe my library will get the book. Also: a DIY channel show airs again on Tuesday night on the new walkway across the Hudson there: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_dpex/episode/0,3194,DIY_32517_62029,00.html I hate their web site. No description of the show there. Here's a forum post on the show: http://www.adkhighpeaks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8394 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
