Hi, With regard to my earlier suggestion of perhaps adding a second step to execute a REXX routine to uncomment INCLUDE and SET statements after IEBEDIT has processed them.
A test run using both IEBEDIT INCLUDE and EXCLUDE reveals that such a step is not particularly helpful, as the comment statement cannot be guaranteed to be written to SYSUT2 by IEBEDIT. The same experimentation also showed that IF and ENDIF should be treated with suspicion when using IEBEDIT. Any solution needs to be more sophisticated than I first thought, and the better course seems to be a replacement for IEBEDIT. As somebody else suggested a PMR to IBM might be worthwhile but it would not be a quick process.
