Still drifting around, but it's Friday, so... On the ride in this morning, whilst realizing it was a bloody good thing I washed my feet before I hit "send" yesterday, my comment about software development hit me square in the forehead, and I see a couple of similar comments in this morning's digest.
Having been in countles ETR's, CritSits, etc., over the few (20) years I've been at this, I have come to realize SD is an almost utterly thankless job. We customers (users) are a demanding lot, so I recognize it is tough to get it right, and even if successful, someone will inevitably use the lawnmower to trim the hedges. We'll do something with a piece of code that no developer in his right (or wrong) mind could ever conceive. What hit me was the irony that we use software and hardware, invented by humans, to reduce the opportunity for error through automation and reduction of the human element. "Strange deal." Think I'll go watch the latest "Terminator" sequel this weekend...
