Hello, can anyone give me an help about gathering creation date from catalogued tape dsns, like this:NONVSAM ------- EXPAA.DY00000.GAAAA.OUT IN-CAT --- CATALOG.XXXXXX.EXPXXXX HISTORY DATASET-OWNER-----(NULL) CREATION--------19950617 RELEASE----------------2 EXPIRATION------0000.000 VOLUMES VOLSER------------A00000 DEVTYPE------X'78048081' VOLSER------------002000 DEVTYPE------X'78048081' ASSOCIATIONS--------(NULL) ATTRIBUTES
You need to be aware that this is the date the catalog entry was created. This may generally match the date the tape was created, but doesn't have to. For example if it is uncataloged and recataloged the date will change. A mergecat might also change the date, but I haven't checked this. CA-1 maintains the create date in the TMC, and I would think most other tape management systems would do something similar. If this is a standard labeled tape, the create date is also in the HDR1 label, but this is not as convenient. You have to mount the tape and read the label to find it. -- RIchard ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
