I think the title gives a large hint. If it was just a simple update they would have called it something else, I think.
When thinking about a response to this I came to the realization that few revolutionary items have happened from generation to generation of machine or z/OS, but if you look at the life of the product family, it has been an enormous evolution. For those of us old enough, compare OS/MFT on a 360/65 to z/OS R1.13 on a z/196. If IBM threw a revolutionary change at the users, there would be tremendous resistance to it, if not a revolution by the users. No, I'll take small updates if that is what you want to call it.
