I ran into this problem in the midst of whole boatload of overdue
maintenance. The PTFs (UK72318 and UK72319) REQ each other and were
obviously intended to be installed in the same APPLY. The PTFs were never
marked PE even though IV05507 indicates that the 'defect' will be fixed
with later service. HOLD data in the sysmods state that Java will be
deleted and replaced but does not mention the zFS size problem.

The info APAR gives two possible workarounds. Option 2 is the one I took:
manually delete a couple of huge files in the Java directories. I still
had to use 'zfsadm grow' to force some secondary extents on the zFS
because the pax script failed on insufficient space. APPLY finally ran
clean, and 'java -version' works OK on the result. This problem will
likely hit just about everyone because R13 ServerPac zFS allocations are
not big enough to handle the install logic of these PTFs as constructed.
You can exclude them both in APPLY jobs, but once you hit the problem, you
need to fix it before going on.

Real z/OS sysprogs be on the lookout for this...

Still causing us grief (SMP/E RESTORE failed; 64-bit Java ZFS was restored
but
now APPLY REDO fails because RESTORE failed previously; in the process of
restoring the SMP/E environment...)

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
The installed SDK was deleted before checking the availability
of Co-Req PTFs. Hence, if one PTF is not available, install
script can delete the existing SDK and not install the new SDK.
