The COBOL run time abended on z/OS.e, so it was impossible to run a
native COBOL job step on z/OS.e.
You could not license the compiler on z/OS.e so it you couldn't legaly
compile there, and I was told it didn't work. I never tested it though.
What was allowed was a program written in COBOL running under CEEPIPI.
I wrote a quick modification of the sample CEEPIPI application published
in the LE documentation that allowed COBOL programs to run legally. I
gave this program to a few customers that had a requirement to run a few
COBOL report programs on z/OS.e.

I provided a reference that said it wasn't. But that was early in the
game (z/OS 1.3). I don't think it changed so do you have a
reference to back up your statement?
