I  appreciate the fast response from Ze'ev to fix the problem with 
zos.lked.text.

However, I take issue with this comment (#2 below) on his PCRE web page.
I do not think that mainframe developers are any more conservative than those 
on other platforms -
Everyone has to work within the  framework of their environment and with what 
they are given to work with.

Non-mainframe  developers may have access to a lot more free software than we 
do on the mainframe where most products have to be purchased,
so mainframers have less stuff to play around with.  And many installations 
will not run unlicensed, un-supported products for maintenance reasons.
 But it is not because they are culturally more conservative, IT wise.

The most important tasks are outside of the technical world of implementing and 
testing more and more features and to the fullest extent.  The main tasks are 
actually:


1. To advertise the existence of this port so people may try it and
2. To overcome the cultural issue of the traditional conservatism of Mainframe 
application developers and get them to understand, learn and use regular 
expressions
