Of course. But exacrly what are you trying to do?

That depends on what you're trying to do. Have you read UNIX System
Services Planning? Are you familiar with how your installation built
the previous root?
In general, it's best not to have anything in root except directories
and mount points. If you're migrating from an older system then you
need to decide whether to retain the same conventions or to change
them; either way you need to understand what's in the old root.
