Thanks Andrew and gil, that works!

Apparently it doesn't matter *which* code page is specified. It does
matter though that the same code page is used (could even be "7BIT").
Before posting, I had tried things like "LOCSITE CTRLConn=IBM-285", i.e.,
have the client use the same code page as the server, or vice versa, and I
still don't know why that wouldn't suffice.
