Hello experts, One dumb question: For a Storagetek VSM product or IBM TS7700 product, I can have multiple channels connecting with them, I also know that a tape I/O must complete on the path where it is initiated. Please correct me if I am wrong. Based on this assumption, if there is a need to upgrade code in interface cards of virtual tape products, I may need offline path to the interface card I need service, is it OK to offline path to one of the interface card while it may be in use? Will z/OS protect the path while there are any outstanding I/O that don't complete? The bottom question is: Is it safe to offline path or will it cause backup job(for example ADRDSSU) job to abend?
