Jim, I believe it has to do with dynamic allocation by LE. You may have CBLQDA(ON). If the allocation is for a QSAM file and the CBLQDA runtime option is in effect, CBLQDA dynamic allocation processing takes place for those eligible files. Since it is a temporary DSN Fileaid does NOT have the DD name defined in your profile. So define the DDname for the temp dataset in your profile and see if you still get the message.

We are going to change the dataclass volume count, so that is not my question. My question is, if I go to ispf 3.2 and allocate a dsn manually with the same characteristics, it gets assigned the same dataclass, & stgclass, but... I don't get the IGD17271I msg. Why not? Also, if I use the 'SAVE dnsq2' command from option 3.4, it allocates a file with (again) the same dataclass & stgclass, but again. I get not IGD17271I msg. Can anyone explain why? Does ispf suppress informational msgs, while the FileAid application does not?
