Renaming a tape? The last 17 characters are on the label of the tape so it must remain the same or any use will result in a Tape DSN name mismatch. You will also need to Update TMS, RMM, and any tape management system that uses the data set name. MUCH easier to just create new tape correctly and copy old tapes to the revised name and scratch the old tape.
