Grrr. As a frequent writer of documentation I struggle with that one. I would say either "PDS(E)" (which my PC keeps trying to auto-correct to PDS€) or a preamble something like
"In this document, the term PDS means either a Partitioned Dataset (PDS) or a Partitioned Dataset Extended (PDSE) unless the context clearly demands otherwise." I personally at least would have to think "what the heck does he mean?" every time I encountered "MVS library."
