A few decades ago. Really my first time...I think from MVS 2.5...We did this without confirming fallback and compatibility APARs were on. It was not a pleasant experience and one I never repeated. Standalone restores and shutdowns and IPLs took at least 40 minutes each in that 3090.
If the fallback and compatibility stuff is applied, it isn’t a big deal. > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> On > Behalf Of Lizette Koehler > Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2020 9:51 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: SMS CDS migration > > I would review the Migration volumes and see if there is anything for SMS or > CDS in there > > The only challenge I ever had with going to a new version of z/OS is if I was > running mixed mode (z/OS V2.1 with z/OS V2.3 sharing the same DASD and > PLEX) > > In which case I just needed to make sure that once z/OS V2.3 was in place > that I only did CDS changes from the Higher level. > > And IBM did put in a check so if I did try to do something from a lower level, > there messages to let me know. > > Lizette > > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List <[email protected]> On > Behalf Of TSDunlap > Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2020 9:28 AM > To: [email protected] > Subject: SMS CDS migration > > We are in the process of switching from z/OS 2.3 to z/OS 2.4.
