since I have been working on updating the open source Java code to
support variable length binary records.
I have now merged my changes to the Java version back to the Open
Mainframe Project Github repository here:

It now supports VB binary data including SMF.
The Open Mainframe Project version does EBCDIC->ASCII translation if
required.
