Even if it simply copied from /samples any files in a supplied list that weren't otherwise previously installed in /etc. I took a small unscientific sample (my manager, who has a strong UNIX background). He found it astonishing that any UNIX(-like) installation doesn't supply /etc/magic. That file is distinctive in that it's rarely customized at any installation. Similar should apply to /etc/services, the customary "make" rules file, inetd.conf, ... The idea should be to get a generic system working as well as possible, then customize it. -- gil ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
