"So what, people do this all the time" he said. "But for us, we have upgraded CICS, DB2, and z/OS to new versions. We have moved machine rooms (twice) and upgraded the hardware." Our recent computer science grads were amazed at this, having been used to rebooting at least once a week. They were gobsmacked - having thought a failover and restart within a minute on other platforms was pretty cool. We get so used to the z/OS levels of availability we forget others do not know about it.
