Many a time I've asked myself, "why is this solution so complex". It is a simple problem. Simple problems need simple solutions. I should not have to configure a 7,000 line rexx program! I remember one tester saying "Oh we never use the product - we have automation which runs all of our tests for us. I'll also put my hand up and say "Guilty as charged!" I came to the view that if a product cannot be installed and working within 3 hours - it may be too complex. I would rather get a small system working and add more function, than a big bang, customise it, and pray it works. I also learned that many people do not like it out of the box, and want it to work their way.
