Gil and Steve (and probably others who feel the same way),

Before you get too whack-happy, there are other reasons why something like
this could show up. At some point in the deep, dark past, if the system
fell over for whatever reason (power outage, operator - or sysprog - error
that caused an immediate drop, etc.) temporary datasets can be left out
there. This scenario hasn't happened to me in a long time so I don't know
if IBM changed the system IPL to clean up old temporary datasets or not.

If IBM has added a cleanup routine, or if it is found that some poor JCL
coder did code a DISP on a temporary dataset, then by all means, whack
away. :-)

---------------

I stand appropriately corrected for assuming more than the OP said.

And further, my example was incorrect. It should not have contained CATLG
but KEEP.

So I should be the one being whacked in this case.

Steve Thompson
