Or you could recreate the missing catalog, recatalog the dataset to it (define recatalog) and then move the dataset somewhere else, then delete the new catalog. If there are othjer datasets on the volume, you would be better off zapping the VVDS than deleting it.
If you look at FSZAP you can see how it's done. Also I think there is a file on the CBTTAPE or some entry that Sam wrote that tells how to zap VTOCs and VVDS's.
