We have a Global Mirror for our DR site that has served us well for many years. but, and our familiarity with 'what is possible' has faded.
We are moving our data center in the next year or so. We have a new DS8K in shrink wrap now, waiting for a building to be finished. For migration to the new building. We want to stand up and configure the new DS8K to mirror the capacities and volumes of the existing DS8K. After it is stood up and networked over FCIP, the plan is to start a global mirror from our existing site to the new site. Then, on the magic day. We turn off the mirror, and IPL the mirror targets as our new production machine. Here's the question. Is there a way to use the current source volumes (which are already in a GM session to our DR site) as source volumes for a second GM session at the new building AT THE SAME TIME - in parallel. The manuals are not leading me to any confidence that this is possible. I vaguely remember some restrictions from the DS8100 days that may no longer apply, but who knows?
