It is a mark of success that it "wasn't a big deal". Defusing a ticking time bomb before it goes off isn't a big deal. Pulling a child out of the path of a speeding car isn't a big deal. Failing to successfully do either is a tragedy. in a situation where people are at serious risk, I'd rather have somebody do what is necessary for it to not be a big deal. I will thank them rather than minimizing the effort.
This reminds me of Basic, where some trainees thought that firearms safety wasn't a big deal. It couldn’t have been that big of a deal.” Like most of you, having lived through it people did a huge amount of work and testing, not to mention, spent billions of dollars and time to address issues. Her cavalier comment really took me by surprise but, she was born 7 years after the event so in her worldview its just history that doesn’t affect her. To your comment Bill, a lot of people, and especially those in mgmt now, that lack the context of where we came from and take for granted what they have and wave their hands that the cloud can replace the mainframe highlights how little they understand the problem.
