Shmuel Metz asks: >Does that include allowing two zIIP's/GCP in place of a ZIIP and a >ZAAP?
Today the answer is no, according to the APAR I referenced and according to lots of other information. Based only on my personal experience, IBM tends to issue Statements of Direction to highlight important planning issues worthy of some action or at least of some thought, in this case to encourage customers to get "zAAP on zIIP" capability in place and tested -- though not necessarily enabled in production, depending on the circumstances and as the APAR notes. In other words, I haven't seen anything that would answer your question about the future, and I genuinely don't know. I assume IBM will announce something new (if there is something new) at the appropriate time. If this question is important to you, "ask your IBM representative." It would only be relevant, I think, if nonavailability of zAAPs would result, or could be reasonably expected to result, in saturation of all configurable zIIPs -- i.e. nontrivial zIIP/zAAP-eligible workload not getting dispatched to zIIPs, particularly at peak CP utilization intervals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy Sipples GMU VCT Architect Executive (Based in Singapore) E-Mail: [email protected] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
