Just went to my 1.13 system and tested this on a list of maybe 60 datasets. Using an initial view of 1 (Volume) the list appears 'in the blink of an eye'. When I set that to 2 (Space) it takes noticeably longer (1-2s). Catalog display feature on or off doesn't make any noticeable difference. Just as a test for the OP: When you go in with initial view Volume and then toggle through the views via pf11 - how long does that take? As far as I remember, this toggling for space information has always taken very long on prior releases, too.
