Trying to understand some astonishing behavior, in:
Title: SMP/E V3R6.0 for z/OS V1R13.0 Commands
Document Number: SA22-7771-15
3.0 Chapter 3. The APPLY command
3.7.5 Element installation
3.7.5.8 Module replacements
I read:
o If SMP/E has determined that the binder is available on the system and SMP/E
is processing CSECT deletes, the STORENX link-edit parameter is passed to
the link-edit utility.
Why? I can't imagine why I would ever want to replace an executable
program object in a target library with a nonexecutable one. What's
the rationale. And if I wanted to, I am quite capable of supplying
STORENX in the PARM myself.
Further it appears that SMP/E overrides the NAME ... RC=4 that I supplied
in the JCLIN for the program object. I haven't found the documentation
for this yet.
