More than you might really want to know; i.e., it is not yet officially defined, standardized, or enforced.
Perhaps the term is whatever we use to describe the following notation: 65 mph (miles per hour) 80 gal. (gallons) 5 kw (kilowatts) 88 μ (microns) Maybe these are all "abbreviated" notations. Or Google/Wikipediaize for "International System of Units." I suspect that here in the USA we can call it anything we want, since Wikipedia states "Only Burma , Liberia and the United States have not adopted SI units as their official system of weights and measures", where SI means " Le Système international d'unités ".
