They are called binary and decimal prefixes (sic). The more commonly used, (10^3)^n, notation is formally called SI decimal-prefix notation. The binary, (2^3)^n, notation is called IEC binary prefix-notation. IEC will shortly become SI too. Strictly speaking nude values like 1.234K are not well formed.
