While I agree with most of the points made by the original poster, a couple of 
nits:
1) zPDT is a software-only tool....no special chips or PC boards involved.
2) HTML was inspired by - or evolved from - IBM's GML
3) The original web browse was written of a Next, but the web server that 
served out the pages ran on IBM's VM/ESA.
