In CICS one can have encrypted and non-encrypted files open simultaneously.

This is kind of a MUAS, Multiple User Address Space.

I was going to mention the problem of Connect:Direct but let it go. But since the CICS thing was also brought up....

C:D has similar issues to CICS where it can be a stand-alone or multiple address spaces working in conjunction with each other.


Think CICS-Plex, or C:D-Plex.

CICS can have Terminal owning, File owning, Application owning address spaces (REgions). And can share data between them.
