The State of Florida has no state income tax! Also, Gainsville ranks 94 in overall cost of living compared to 100 average for the U.S. And, I suspect the benefits package offered by a major public national University looks better than what many of us are getting in the private sector. Given those factors, this might not be such a bad offer.
